1. What’s the story behind these camps?

  • OTA has partnered with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County to run summer day camps at two of their locations: Camp Reinberg in Palatine and Camp Sullivan in Oak Forest.
  • Each camp will run for four weeks. Campers can register for anywhere from one week to all four.

2. Is this a Day Camp or a Sports Camp? What does an average day look like?

  • Our camps at Camp Reinberg and Camp Sullivan are traditional day camps and our weekly agendas will include a little bit of everything: Sports, Arts & Crafts, Camp Projects, Nature Hikes, Games, and Special Events. Check out our sample Day Camp agenda to see what a typical day might look like!
  • Weekly camp agendas are tailored to the group size, ages, and other factors specific to each week of camp throughout the summer. We have a massive “OTA Playbook” we maintain that is continually updated with the latest trends in youth programming to make sure camp is a FUN and memorable experience for everyone! A sample agenda is available above.

3. What is the child to staff ratio?

  • All camps have a 10:1 camper to staff ratio

4. Who makes up the OTA Staff?

  • Camp Directors have prior experience as a teacher or as a Camp Director and are First Aid/CPR certified.
  • All Camp Counselors have previous childcare experience, and most are college students in an Education/Childcare-related concentration.
  • Every staff member hired by OTA undergoes a background check and completes our OTA Camp Staff Training Program that includes Classroom Training, Field Training, and On-Site Training.

5. How is camp structured?

  • Campers are grouped by age and will spend time doing individual group activities as well as camp-wide activities.
